Vincent Van Gogh was born on March 30, 1853 in the Netherlands. He had a big family, three sisters and two brothers.
As he grew up, he had no interest in art. That would change very soon.
Van Gogh became interested in art in 1884. He then painted his first painting, The Potato Eater. In 1888 he cuts
off his ear due to a medicine he was taking, Fox Glove. A side effect was he could only see yellow and
gold. Another side effect was it made him very depressed. He then commits himself to a mental
asylum in Saint Remey.
